Fe Moren, RN, BSN, is our director of training and education-in-center at Satellite Healthcare. Fe was born in Daanbantayan, Cebu City, Philippines, and she studied nursing before immigrating to the U.S. with her parents. Having a sister and a sister-in law working as nurses inspired Fe to pursue the field, and she decided to specialize in dialysis care after her mother became a dialysis patient.
In Fe’s own words, “Seeing my sister and sister-in law work as nurses inspired my interest in nursing. When my mom got sick and became a dialysis patient, I became her caregiver, and taking her to dialysis and watching her during her treatments made me realize that this is what I want to do. I remember watching Dr. Coplon make his rounds. He always took the time to talk to patients and staff while making his rounds in the clinics. At that time I realized that their main focus really is patient care.”
Coming from the Philippines to the U.S. was an adjustment for Fe. “Trying to adjust new culture when I first came to the U.S. was a struggle at the beginning, but I was determined to succeed, and through hard work and persistence, I made it to where I am today.”
Fe’s advice for young people considering careers in healthcare is to “choose the right field that you are passionate about, and don’t just think about how much it pays. Think about what you can do to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Also, be respectful and compassionate with your patients. There’s great satisfaction in making a difference in people’s lives.”
