SAN JOSE, Calif. – November 15, 2022 – Satellite Healthcare, a nonprofit, top-rated provider of kidney dialysis and related patient services and its affiliated organization, National Nephrology Alliance (NNA), and the Nephrology Associates Medical Group (NAMG), the largest nephrology clinical practice serving Riverside and San Bernardino counties in California, are proud to announce one of their practicing physicians has been named co-chair of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology's 19th annual scientific meeting

Dalia Z. Dawoud, MD, MSc, FASDIN is a practicing nephrologist, specializing in interventional nephrology, which focuses on
dialysis access management, including diagnostic angiograms, angioplasty, angioplasty with stent, thrombectomy and catheter placement/ repair/ removal on the care and maintenance of vascular accesses for hemodialysis. She is the medical director of NAMG’s Vascular Access Center and Ultrasound Laboratory as well as its ASC JV Manager.  She is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at UC-Riverside, a core faculty member of its RCH/UCR Internal medicine residency program, and the Director of NNA Research.

A native of Egypt, Dr. Dawoud especially credits her late father with inspiring her chosen specialty, nephrology. When she was 16, her father was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease enduring many years of dialysis, and eventually, underwent a kidney transplant. Seeing him go through many setbacks compelled Dr. Dawoud to change her focus while she was still a medical resident to try to help people like her father. Her goal became to make life better for those with kidney disease. She even participated as one of her father’s kidney transplantation team members. Sometimes she senses her father smiling down from heaven at all she’s been able to accomplish in her career of helping others.

Since coming to the United States and becoming a citizen, Dr. Dawoud has had many accomplishments. Her formal medical training was at the Ain Shams University College of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, and she completed her residency at Capital Health System in Trenton, New Jersey.  She has held two fellowships, both at the University of Alabama, in Birmingham, one in nephrology and the other in interventional nephrology. She has served in many educator roles, most recently as the core faculty member of its RCH/UCR Internal medicine residency program, and as a frequently invited speaker at many scientific meetings including ASDIN and other prestigious scientific gatherings and the U.S. and in Egypt.

She was recently invited to become a member of the Transforming Dialysis Access Together (TDAT) Initiative of the American Society of Nephrology, whose goal is to address the challenges of dialysis access. Members will be asked to share their knowledge, leadership, perspectives, and expertise on a variety of committees to achieve the TDAT initiative goals and objectives.

“During my long 22-year journey practicing medicine, I felt a great honor to be blessed with such a great group of mentors, partners, colleagues, administrators, ancillary staff, and family members who supported and helped me at every step,” said Dr. Dawoud. “I want to heartily thank all of them, without whom it never would have been possible for me to make it this far.”

The ASDIN meeting, which will be held in February 2023 in Orlando, Fla., is open to all providers and administrators who are involved in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease/ end-stage renal disease, including, nephrologists, interventional nephrologists, interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, nurse practitioners, nurses, care coordinators, renal technicians, dialysis providers, residents, and fellows. The American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology’s mission is to promote excellence in dialysis access care to improve outcomes for patients with kidney disease.
